Enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year for full-day kindergarten at Northampton Community College's Reibman Hall Children's Center is open now to children who will be age 5 by October 1, 2012.
The kindergarten class in Northampton Community College's Reibman Hall Children's Center will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wrap-around programming will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the school year. Child care will also be available during the summer.
The kindergarten class incorporates Art as a Way of Learning, an arts-integrated approach to early childhood education that NCC developed with Crayola to encourage children to use the arts to construct meaning and represent and express learning. The arts also serve to integrate reading, math, science and social studies with an emphasis on creating and solving problems.
The kindergarten's location on a college campus provides children with many opportunities for educational enrichment including visits to the college library and art gallery, physical activity in the dance studio and outdoors, and attendance at performances appropriate for children.
Other unique features include:
Active engagement with materials and ideas
Inquiry approach to learning
Natural outdoor playground
Small class size (13 maximum)
Artist-in-Residence
