Volunteers working the polls in Monroe County heard one message over and over on November 3. "We love the community college, but...." While singing the college's praises, voters worried about the economy still turned down a referendum that would have enabled the County to float a bond to help finance the construction of a new campus. Fortunately a bill pending before the state House of Representatives could provide citizens of Monroe County with property tax relief and a campus that can meet the needs of the growing number of high school graduates, adults and employers who rely on the community college.
