Monroe Students Feast in 14 Countries

By Mallory Vough
March 09, 2010

Students at Northampton Community College's Monroe campus ate lunch in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Italy, Morocco, Thailand, Poland, Jamaica, Egypt, India, China, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines, all in one, two-hour time period.

They accomplished this impossible feat in the comfort of the Community Room on March 9 during NCC's annual D'Versapalooza.

Students enjoyed music, displays and all kinds of international food, including Danishes, Swedish meatballs (and Swedish fish!), egg rolls, sushi, pierogies, and karjalanpiirakka (A.K.A Karelian Pies or homemade Finnish pies), to name a few.

Tying in with the theme of diversity, students wrote about their experiences with social justice and diversity on a graffiti wall.

The event was sponsored by Student Governance, Student Services, Communications Studies, Criminal Justice, Science Club, Education Association and Phi Theta Kappa.
