Tech Prep at the High School Level
Schools that offer Tech Prep have the following features:
- Tech Prep students are concentrators in a unique program of study that has the following characteristics:
- The program is typically planned as a four-year sequence, two at the secondary level and two at the postsecondary level. The secondary level program includes both an academic and technical sequence of experience.
- The program has an occupational identity that can either be occupation-specific or a group of occupations, directly related to a particular Classification of Instructional Program (CIP).
- The program has one or more articulation agreements with relevant postsecondary providers among which is Northampton Community College.
- The program culminates in a related postsecondary associate degree, a certificate program, or a registered apprenticeship.
- Tech Prep students complete a unique two-year academic course sequence identifiable in a course selection guide.
- Tech Prep students complete a unique skills component that meets the state guidelines for an approved Tech Prep program.
- Tech Prep students plan to matriculate in postsecondary technical education to enhance their skills and that allows them to successfully pursue full-time employment in a occupation related to the Tech Prep program they have completed.
Special Programs
