Pre-Service Meeting with Disability Services

The other part of the process for obtaining accommodations at Northampton is the pre-service meeting with Disability Services staff. During your meeting, you will discuss the nature and impact of your disability, and review your academic strengths and needs. You will also learn how accommodations are provided for students at NCC and discuss your new role as a self advocate in requesting reasonable accommodations.

In preparation for your preservice meeting, it will be important for you to be able to discuss the following questions:

1. Discuss your disability/disabilities.
2. Describe how your disability affects you in an academic environment.
3. Describe your academic and personal strengths and weaknesses.
4. Describe the accommodations and special education supports you have received in high school.
5. Describe the accommodations you may need in college.
6. Discuss any medications you are currently taking.
7. Discuss the documentation you will provide to NCC.
8. Discuss the programs/majors you are interested in studying.

To schedule your pre-service meeting, contact the Disability Services office. This meeting may be completed by phone or video conferencing for online students.
