English as a Second Language (ESL)

Northampton Community College ESL includes:

  • four levels of classes, from beginner to advanced
  • classes in reading, writing and speaking English
  • classes designed to prepare you for college level course work in English. You may take classes in your major while also taking ESL courses.

Northampton ESL students

  • do NOT have to take the TOEFL test.
  • come from many different backgrounds. Some are international students with F1 visas from 35 different countries, and some are US residents who immigrated to the country.
  • have different levels of education. Some are college graduates and some are undergraduates.
  • Can transfer credits from schools outside of the United States.
