Educational Principles
Welcome to Northampton Community College. I am the Dean of the Humanities and Social Sciences Division. Northampton's open-access mission provides admission to higher education for a broad spectrum of students, and that mission is highly compatible with my own views about education. I believe that, at its best, the college classroom offers the opportunity for students to begin to study new material, explore novel ideas, and consider alternate ways of thinking. I am proud to be associated with the dedicated faculty members who are committed to helping their students achieve their academic goals. With a wide array of programs and courses across the College, Northampton delivers an excellent educational experience at an affordable cost.

Curriculum Vitae Highlights
I have worked in higher education in various capacities for ten years. I began my professional career in continuing education at Cedar Crest College as the Coor. of Scheduling and Special Projects. I then moved to Brussels, Belgium, where I taught English as a foreign language for several years, instructing a variety of students including working adults and senior citizens. Living abroad, learning a new language, and teaching for the first time, greatly expanded my own cultural horizons.
After my doctoral work, I taught education as an adjunct instructor at Moravian College and Northampton. Northampton offered me the position of assistant dean of Humanities and Social Sciences. In March 2005, I became the dean of the Division.
