For many years, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with other
adults, from schools & businesses, and with parents & teachers, to work with young people in learning about their community and exploring local history through visual art activities. These experiences have given me insight into the students' point of view concerns for the future of their school & their interest in community revitalization. I believe that visual thinking and positive art experiences must be encouraged, and nurtured, from an early age. Then, as children grow into young adults, they begin to understand the importance of art, beauty and creative problem solving in our world. These individuals also appreciate an ongoing sense of personal enjoyment of art.
