The Early Childhood and Distance Learning Faculty and Staff of NCC are pleased to be selected by Bright Horizon Administration to be a provider of the Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education for Bright Horizons Employees.

Tuition Rate for Bright Horizon Employees
$130.00 per credit hour for all required ECE Associate Degree courses. All three credit courses cost $390.00 

This is a 35% reduction in the cost of an Associate Degree.

In order to receive this benefit, you must notify the Bright Horizons’ Human Resources Department. You can only receive this special pricing if you are officially identified to us.

You will receive a tuition bill from NCC.  NCC offers you choice in paying your tuition:

        • Mail payment to NCC
        • Online payment using credit card
        • Enroll in tuition payment plan

Please note, if you have already paid your bill for Summer I, notify your Human Resources Department, they will confirm your employment with the NCC Bursar’s Office, and you will receive an updated bill.

    Following are Questions that are Frequently Asked by Bright Horizon employees. We hope that the answers serve as a guide for you. Please remember to visit the NCC Early Childhood Web page for more information and the Early Childhood Admissions Advisor regarding your specific questions.

    Q1. What courses do I need to complete to receive an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education?

    A1: The Associate Degree consists of 60 credits. 30 credits are early childhood courses and 30 are general education.

    Q2: What online Early Childhood programs does NCC offer?

    A2: In addition to the Associate Degree Program, NCC offers the following 9 credit specialized diploma programs:

    Preschool CDA

    Infant Toddler CDA

    Family Child Care CDA

    School Age Child Care

    Leadership for Early Childhood Directors

    Q3: What is on-line learning in Early Childhood?

    A3: A description of on-line learning…required skills, computer capabilities, amount of time required, etc….is located on ECE web page Being an ECE Distance Learning Student.

    Q4: Can I get credit for my CDA?

    A4: If you prepared for your CDA through Bright Horizons and/or received credit for your CDA classes you receive 9 credits toward the Associate Degree. Directions for receiving credit for your CDA are located on the ECE web page Articulating your CDA Diploma .

    Q5: Will my credits transfer to a four year school?

    A5: NCC is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the regional accrediting Commission for Pennsylvania. The credits are transferable to other regionally accredited institutions. However, each institution makes its decision about acceptance of transfer courses. If you have identified a four year school to which you want to transfer, it is helpful to plan your selection of courses with an admissions person from that higher education institution.

    Q6: Will you accept credits from another college? Do my credits expire?

    A6: NCC will accept credits from institutions that are accredited by a regional accrediting agency association. Courses with a ‘C’ or better will be evaluated for applicability to the ECE Associate Degree program at NCC. Credits can be transferred regardless of when credit was received. Credits do not expire. To receive a credit evaluation please have your transcript sent to Northampton Community College Admissions Office, Northampton Community College, 3885 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem, PA 18020, attention ECE Admissions Advisor.

    Q7: What is the cost of tuition?

    A7: All online classes for Bright Horizons employees have a special rate of $130 per credit which is equivalent to $390.00 per 3-credit course. This rate applies to all Early Childhood courses and all General Education courses, regardless of residency. Please remember you must identify yourself as a Bright Horizons Employee to receive this tuition benefit.

    Q8: Can I get credit for life experience?

    A8: If you have an Early Childhood Education portfolio you want reviewed for credit please contact the Early Childhood Director.

    Q9: Do I need to take the placement tests?

    A9: There are placement test requirements for all students wishing to earn an associate degree or certificate. However, placement test requirements depend on the academic background of each student. Please review the NCC placement test policy. You may take the first course EARL 109 prior to taking the placement test. Please note, if you need to take a placement test, you may arrange for your placement tests to be taken locally by identifying a proctor to supervise your testing. A suitable proctor can be your Bright Horizon's supervisor, or local library or school.     Q10: How frequently do classes run?

    A10: There are five semester start dates for classes:

    • Fall: Last week in August
    • Mid Fall: First week in October
    • Spring: Mid January
    • Mid spring: First week in March
    • Summer : Mid May

    Q11: What classes are available?

    A11: Choose your classes.

    Q12: What happens after I am registered?

    A12: The following procedure is used:

    1.
    You will receive and pay your tuition bill.

    2. Go to the Distance Learning web page to receive your orientation letter. The orientation letter will give you the instructors name, email address, textbooks, and directions to enter their Bb course.

    Q13: How do I get my books?

    A13: You may order through the NCC bookstore or through an online bookstore of your choice.

    Q14: When do I log-on to my class?

    A14: You can enter on the first day of classes begin using the log in procedures.
