NCC is the only college offering accredited Solar Photovoltaic courses within the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Recently our 60 hour Solar Photovoltaic Systems I was awarded an Institute for Sustainable Power Quality (ISPQ) Accredited Training Program designation from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC).
The course is part of a comprehensive degree in Electrical Construction Technology. The course can also be taken independently by licensed Electricians or after successfully completing our Electrical Fundamentals course. View current course offerings.
Thanks to 2009 Solar Scholar grant from the Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF), a non-profit organization that promotes energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy education initiatives in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, NCC was able to develop a Photovoltaic program. This collaborative effort enabled the installation of the Solar Photovoltaic System in Alumni Hall on the College's Bethlehem Campus in Bethlehem Township. Continuing Education & Certification Exams
In addition to a credit degree and courses, NCC also offers continuing education in solar technology and certification testing. Continuing education course offerings include:
Two Day Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Installation Workshop - provides in-depth exposure to solar equipment in the design and installation of a residential system.
Solar Electric Systems Level I - Based on the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification, PV Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge program, this course provides the basic knowledge, comprehension and application of key terms and concepts of photovoltaic (solar electric) assembly and system operations.
Prerequisite: Basic Electricity or equivalent experience.
North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Entry Level Exam
Electrical courses - Training for licensed electricians, inspectors and professional engineers.
