For the past 10 years, Gary Warren has not owned a car, and bicycling has been his primary mode of transportation. In this time, he has gained significant knowledge in the care and maintenance of bicycles, as well as expertise in riding around the Lehigh Valley safely, efficiently, and joyfully. Through the help of the Bethlehem Bicycle Co-op, also known as CAT (Coalition for Appropriate Transportation), he became an American Bicycle League Certified Instructor, and uses this certification to teach safe and effective cycling to groups of all ages. Recently, he has helped develop the Bike Smart Easton program, which administers bike education to all K-8 students in the Easton Area School District. He believes that smart cycling brings together lessons in self-reliance, physical fitness, and environmentalism, and works to share this belief with the entire Lehigh Valley, one ride at a time.
