Chef Patrick Maranuk, The Novel Gourmet, began teaching healthy cooking, Sushi, nutrition, etc. at NCC's Monroe Campus in August 2014.  He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts, is a Certified Train the Trainer in ServSafe, and National Restaurant Association Educator (ProStart, ManageFirst).  He has 15 years of industry experience including 8 years of owning his own Personal Chef Service specializing in all cuisines, customized dinner solutions, cooking lessons, etc.   

Patrick follows these teaching principles: being enthusiastic; learning about the students; organizing each class well; using a presentation style that maximizes student interest; and using a variety of teaching methods to present the material. He uses humor in his presentations to spark interest and make presentations engaging, and varies teaching techniques (cases, discussion groups, lecture, etc.)

His emphasis is on helping the student to learn, rather than just dispensing his knowledge to them.
