AAS Degree candidates (Special Instructions):
The A.A.S. degree enables you to transfer credits to a four-year college or university and qualifies you to be an assistant teacher with the possibility of advancing to administrative positions in infant-toddler and preschool programs.
- Listing of courses and course information
- You must take the English Placement Exam. You do not have to come to campus if you live farther than 30 miles from NCC (information on Placement Testing). It is best for your learning if this exam is taken prior to your first course. However, it can be taken while you are enrolled in your first semester of classes.
- The first course for which you register is EARL109 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- Typically distance learning students register for one or two courses.

Placement Tests:
You do not have to come to campus if you live farther than 30 miles from NCC. For more information on Placement Testing, click here. It is best for your learning if this exam is taken prior to your first course. However, it can be taken while you are enrolled in your first semester of classes. This is for degree candidates only. Students may also enroll in the Preparation Course for English Placement.
Transfer credits:
- If you have college credits from another institution please send your transcripts to the Records Office.
- If you have a CDA, read about articulating your CDA.
Tuition:
On line classes with the prefix EARL have a special rate of $100 a credit which is $300.00 per course. The general education classes will depend on your residency. Please read the tuition information.
T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships (For PA Child Care Employees Only):
NCC's Early Childhood program will accept T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships (the link will take you offsite to learn more about T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships, including how to apply).
