Placement Testing Procedure for Distance Learners

Students who plan on taking courses through distance educaton and are unable to take the necessary placement testing at one of the NCC sites may make arrangements to have off-campus proctored testing.  Students are required to find a proctor at a local school or public library.  The NCC Advising Office will send the testing materials to the proctor for him/her to administer the test(s).  Contact the Advising and Transfer Office at 610-861-5346 for more information.

OFF-CAMPUS PROCTORED
:
Tests may be administered off-campus by an approved person. Instructions include:

  • If you are unable to take the English and Math Placement Tests on NCC (either Main or Monroe campus) we can accommodate you.

  • You must find a local proctor willing to administer the paper and pencil version of the NCC Placement Tests. Your local library or a local college is often willing to provide this service. Some facilities will charge you a testing fee, make sure you discuss this up front. NCC is not responsible for test administration fees.

  • Get the name and mailing address of the proctor.

  • Contact the NCC Advising and Transfer Office at 610-861-5346 or email mhenry@northampton.edu to give us the proctor information. We will then send the tests and proctor instructions to the designated individual.

  • You must contact your local proctor to schedule a time to take the tests.

  • When the testing is complete, the proctor will send all materials back to us and we will score the test. We will notify you by mail of the results.

NOTE: If you have questions about whether or not you need to take the placement tests, contact the Advising and Transfer Office at the phone number or email listed above.
