Modern Foreign Languages & English as a Second Language (ESL)

Although NCC does not offer a major in foreign languages, students can add French, Spanish and Chinese courses to strengthen their General Education or Humanities curriculums. Students who study foreign languages are often also enthusiastic participants in the study of world cultures and literatures. Being able to communicate with people of different linguistic and cultural backgrounds is your passport to the world and can give you an edge in your chosen career. In these elementary and intermediate-style courses, students can expect to acquire a solid knowledge base and to develop a reasonably critical view of their own culture and an appreciation of other cultures. Some students may also be prepared to continue the study of these languages upon transfer to a four-year institution.

Students should visit the Course Search tool and search "Modern Languages" to see the latest credit offerings.
