Counseling Services
Crisis Information We know that juggling classes, homework, a job, a family, and a social life is not always easy. We've been helping students of all ages and backgrounds cope with the pressures of being a successful student. Our professional staff of counselors cares about helping you and offers a variety of free services.
Online Service: Virtual Self-Help Center A collection of online pamphlets covering a variety of counseling related issues:
Personal counseling: Available on a short-term, confidential basis for students dealing with issues such as anxiety, family and relationship concerns, body image, depression, academic performance, and alcohol and drug abuse. For students who require long-term therapy staff are skilled at making referrals into the community so that students obtain the care that they require.
Group counseling: Offered based on student need and interest. Workshops: Offered each semester on topics such as test anxiety, stress management, time management, test taking techniques.

NCC's COUNSELING SERVICES STATEMENT ON CONFIDENTIALITY: The members of the counseling staff value and respect each individual’s privacy. Counselors at Northampton Community College keep information learned about a student during counseling strictly confidential according to the guidelines of the American Psychological Association and the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Records of visits to a counselor are protected and are kept separate from academic records. To the extent possible counselors will not disclose information to anyone outside the counseling conversation or relationship without the student’s explicit written permission or when it becomes evident that the student presents a clear and imminent danger to him or herself or others, when the counselor is mandated to report the abuse of a child, or when the court has ordered disclosure. In order to provide the most effective services possible, individual counselors may consult with members of the counseling staff. Consultation with personnel within the student affairs division that may be necessary to better assist the student should occur with the student’s prior knowledge and consent, with the exceptions noted above. The counseling staff is pledged to uphold the important obligation to safeguard confidential information according to these guidelines and to work to insure that all staff members within the counseling office maintain privacy and confidentiality for those students seeking services. Students can feel free to ask their counselor for more detailed information about confidentiality and its limitations.

Latacha Davis, A.A., B.A., M.A., Assistant Director of Counseling and Support Services LDavis@northampton.edu, 570-688-2474 Biography: Latacha's primary role is assisting students with various mental health, AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) and other personal life issues. She is very passionate and committed to helping students achieve academic success and serve as a role model for minority students. Latacha serves on a variety of the college's committees and promotes multicultural programs. Her office hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8 am to 5 pm at the Monroe Campus.
Kenneth Graves, B.A., M.Ed., AAMFT, CAAP, CCDP Associate Professor/Counseling KGraves@northampton.edu, 570-688-2471 Biography: Ken's primary responsibility is to serve as the counselor for the Monroe campus. Ken is a certified Drug and Alcohol counselor and works with students who are first generation college students. He facilitates a leadership weekend for students, serves on the Alcohol and Other Drug Task Force, and is responsible for bringing various educational/cultural programming to the Monroe Campus.
