Victaulic Training Center
Victaulic, an international manufacturing company, has chosen Northampton Community College (NCC) as a location for their satellite classroom. Victaulic is the world's leading producer of mechanical pipe joining solutions and grooved pipe joining systems.
This fall the company established the Victaulic Training Center in the Advanced Technology Center at NCC's Bethlehem Campus. In a lab outfitted with the latest Victaulic technology and system solution tools, training professionals from Victaulic support new company sales representatives, empowering them to find solutions to customers' construction challenges.
"Northampton Community College is a great partner to Victaulic and the entire Lehigh Valley community, including students and business leaders," Eric Luftig, vice president at Victaulic, explains. "We appreciate the ability to leverage their talent, technology and footprint to support our training and customer needs."
NCC's Bethlehem Campus is located 15 minutes away from Victaulic's headquarters in Easton. Within the past eighteen months the College completely renovated its Technology Center to include virtual reality welding stations, pick-and-place robots, CNC plasma cutters, metallurgy labs, and new instrumentation, mechanical systems, motors, controls, photovoltaic energy, heating and refrigeration, electronics, wiring, programmable logic controllers, computer-aided design, and 3-D printing equipment.
Christopher Gaylo, the director of industrial programs at Northampton, says that Northampton provides technical and management training for employees of many area businesses at their facilities or on campus, but this is a deeper partnership. "With Victaulic embedded in the middle of our Technology Center students who are preparing for careers in manufacturing get to see best practices and the importance of ongoing training."
