NCC appoints new VP of student affairs and enrollment
Sedgwick Harris has joined the staff at Northampton Community College as vice president of student affairs and enrollment. Harris comes to Northampton from Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois, where he was vice president of student services.
In announcing the senior-level appointment, Northampton's president, Dr. Mark Erickson, said Harris rose to the top in a national search that attracted a strong pool of candidates. "It is Sedgwick's passion for students and their success that drew him to NCC and us to him," Erickson says. "He is a student-centered, student-focused strategic thinker, who brings solid experiences and grounded practices."
Harris earned an associate degree in general studies from Southwestern Michigan Community College and a bachelor of arts degree in mass communications from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He also holds a master of arts degree in education leadership from Western Michigan University and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in community college leadership at Ferris State University.
Prior to becoming vice president of student services at Kishwaukee, Harris served as vice president for student services at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL, and as director of admissions and college life at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, MI.
"Northampton's commitment to creating an environment that is student-centered while promoting academic success aligns closely with my personal and professional values," Harris says. "I look forward to being part of the team that is focused on this."
