Grand opening celebrates the new space!
The seemingly magical transformation of the Main Campus bookstore from a cramped shop to a bright, roomy space took place before the fall semester began. Yet the official grand opening of Northampton Community College's fabulous new bookstore wasn't held until October 29, after the fall rush was over.
Not only was Sam Spartan in attendance for the official ribbon cutting ceremony, but so were NCC President Dr. Mark Erickson and Follett President Donald Germano.
"About a year ago we decided to partner with Follett to better meet the needs of our students," Erickson said before the ribbon cutting took place. "As part of that conversation, we looked at the old bookstore and worked with Follett to make this happen," he said, gesturing at the spacious shop that now has the feel of a big chain bookstore. His question of "do you like it?" was met with applause and cheers from the students in attendance.
"Our goal when we partnered with NCC was to create a space that not only allows students to be successful in the classroom, but that gives them pride in their school," Germano added.
The festivities included refreshments and a gift card giveaway. The celebration is not over! It will be extended through November 15 and includes events at the Monroe Campus, too. Participate in games like "Find the NCC Bookstore Mascot" for the opportunity to win a gift card and play Plinko for a chance to win a FREE semester of textbooks (up to $500)!
