NCC was one of three community colleges in the country featured in an AP wire story about community colleges "branching out to nontraditional locations to avoid expensive construction costs, attract new students and serve those in out-of-the-way places." The article, “Community Colleges Finding Unusual Homes,” mentions the Fowler Family Southside Center , which is now housed in what used to be part of Bethlehem Steel.
