The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) held the Week of the Young Child on April 2-8. The event is celebrated across the country to bring awareness to the needs of young children. It was held in conjunction with Pennsylvania ’s One Book, Every Young Child program. This state-wide program highlights the importance of literacy development in preschoolers. NCC joined in on the celebration.
Monroe Dean Dr. Matthew Connell helped by reading to children at the Hannig Family Children’s Center. Connell read the book Inside Mouse, Outside Mouse by Lindsay Barrett George. The book is this year's official selection for the One Book, Every Young Child program. Each child was then given a copy of the book to keep.
At the Main Campus, Lauren Wightman, reference assistant, read Inside Mouse, Outside Mouse to students from the Reibman Children’s Center. The children were also given their own copies.
Books were donated by the Paul and Harriet Mack Library.
