The following individuals have joined NCC as full-time faculty members this semester.
Christine Armstrong, assistant professor of communications/theatre (Monroe): Armstrong recently completed her master’s degree in Communication Arts and Sciences from Penn State, and is currently a graduate teaching assistant there.
Dr. Javier Avila, associate professor of English: Avila is currently an associate professor of English at The University of Puerto Rico. He holds a doctorate in literature and literary criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is the author of two novels.
Ziona Brotleit, instructor, counseling: Brotleit is a licensed psychologist with private practices in Allentown and Philadelphia. She earned her baccalaureate degree at Queens College of The City University of New York, and her master’s degree in counseling from Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia..
Eileen Brumitt, instructor of English: Brumitt is a teaching fellow at Lehigh University, and has worked as a tutor in the University Center for Writing and Study Skills. She earned a master’s degree in English literature from Lehigh.
Celisa Counterman, instructor of mathematics (Monroe): Counterman will soon complete her M.S. in mathematics education from Montclair State University. She holds an additional master’s degree in adult education from the University of Phoenix. She is presently an NCC adjunct instructor at Monroe.
Dr. Virginia Gonzalez, professor of counseling: Gonzalez is a veteran faculty member at Northampton, but has accepted an appointment in the Department of Psychology, and will add teaching to her duties in the Counseling department.
Karen Klein, coordinator of Reibman Children’s Center: Klein is a familiar NCC presence, having served as a Child Care Assistant for many years. During the spring 2006 semester, she was appointed to a temporary position as Coordinator, and is now being appointed full time in that role.
Christina M. Lincoln, assistant professor of early childhood education: Lincoln has been Coordinator of the Reibman Hall Children’s Center since 2001. She holds a baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education from Penn State and a Master’s in Education (specializing in Early Childhood) from East Stroudsburg University.
Dr. Karen Clay Rhines, associate professor of psychology: Rhines is currently assistant professor of psychology and assistant professor in the Center for Women’s Studies at Seton Hall University. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Rutgers University.
Nancy Renee Shadlow, instructor of communications: Shadlow is presently vice president for client relationships at Harvey Lewis Designs in Annapolis, Maryland. She holds the B.A. degree in communications from Messiah College in Grantham and a Master of Arts in global marketing communication and advertising from the Netherlands Campus of Emerson College.
Dr. Beatriz Villar, assistant professor of biology (Monroe): Dr. Villar is currently an adjunct instructor at the Monroe Campus and at Moravian College. She holds an undergraduate degree in fundamental biology, a master of science in plant biology , and a Ph.D. in plant biology, all from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain. She has done several postdoctoral research projects in Spanish and French universities.
Jason Zulli, instructor of art: Mr. Zulli is an assistant design and communications director at Lehigh University. He earned a B.A. in integrative arts and graphic design at Penn State University and a master of science degree in instructional design and development from Lehigh
