Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) is a
U.S.
based, international organization which represents the global interests of community colleges in the
U.S.
CCID is currently working with five partner community colleges in the
U.S.
by
providing a comprehensive and intensive educational opportunity in
U.S.
communities for students from
Brazil
,
South Africa
and
Turkey
.
CCID emphasizes the importance of involving students in daily U.S. community life by placing each student with a host family for one semester. We are reaching out to the NCC community and asking for twelve host families to house 9 male and 3 female students from mid-January to May 31, 2008. A stipend of $400 per month will be issued to each host family to cover living expenses for the student.
NCC has twelve international students who are participating in this project. The program will have students acquire skills, knowledge, and experience enabling them to participate in the development of their home nations.
Friendships established during homestays last a lifetime and transform the views of all participants’ students and families alike about a once foreign country and cultures.
If you are interested in this program and wish to host a student please contact Patrice Boulous at (610) 861-5504 or by email at pboulous@northampton.edu or Manuel Gonzalez at (610) 861-5429 or by email at mgonzalez@northampton.edu before December 1st.
