By Peggy Marinelli, RN     December 12, 2007

Having a holiday party? Those who do not want to drink alcohol or those who know "when to say when" will appreciate the host or hostess who offers any of the following imaginative alternatives.

Fruit Loose and Fancy Free
Makes 1 serving
2 oz orange juice
2 oz grapefruit juice
1 tsp lemon juice
4 oz club soda

Shake vigorously with crushed ice and chill. Pour into a tall chilled glass. Drip in 1 tsp. maraschino juice. Garnish with orange slice, lemon slice and throw in a cherry.

Noon On The Equator
Makes 1 serving
¼ cup orange juice
¼ cup tomato juice
Juice of ¼ lemon
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ teaspoons grenadine syrup
Dash of tabasco sauce
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker and add ice cubes. Shake well and strain into glasses.

Orange Cranberry Toddy
Makes 8 servings
2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
¼ cup sugar
1 stick cinnamon
8 whole cloves
6 cups orange juice
2 oranges, sliced

Heat first 5 ingredients to boiling point. Taste and add more sugar if needed. Gamish with orange slices and add cinnamon sticks or swizzle sticks.
