Darryl Speicher Speaks at NCC

It all began with a bird ...

Darryl Speicher

Darryl Speicher, environmental educator with the Monroe County Conservation District and president of the Pocono Avian Research Center (PARC), shared his life story with students, faculty and staff at Northampton Community College on February 16. He told how a chance encounter with a Common Yellowthroat warbler led him from youthful aimlessness to certification in natural history from the Smithsonian, a biology degree achieved magna cum laude 19 years after his high school graduation, marriage, fatherhood, and work he loves teaching others about the majesty of nature and avian life. Speicher, a master bird bander, invited everyone to come check out volunteer opportunities at PARC.
