Stunning Photos of Bethlehem Steel To Be Exhibited at NCC
August 5, 2008

Photographs from Inside Bethlehem Steel: The Final Quarter Century, the book by Bethlehem resident Peter Trieber, will be exhibited from August 25 through October 12 at Northampton Community College ’s (NCC) Communications Hall Gallery, Main Campus, 3835 Green Pond Road , Bethlehem Township.

Trieber, a photographer for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, portrayed the industrial titan--the world’s second largest steel producer during World War II and provider of steel for iconic American structures--from 1977 through 2000.

“The spectacular photographs of Peter Trieber constitute a work that will not be forgotten,” says Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist John Strohmeyer. “The most stunning visual history I’ve ever seen,” says Ed Riccio, president of BethForge, 1989-1995. “Trieber captures the beauty and power of the steelmaking process and portrays it as fine art.”

Trieber holds an associate degree in design from the State University of New York and a bachelor of fine arts in photography from the Art Center College of Design in California. He maintains a photography business in Bethlehem.

Gallery hours in Communication Hall are as follows: Monday through Friday 8am until 9:00 pm

Saturday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Closed Sunday.

NCC will also host a talk by Trieber on September 9 at 3:30 p.m. at NCC’s College Center, Room 146. A reception for the photographer will follow in the gallery from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
