Hot Hoops for NCC’s Men’s Basketball
By Patricia Canavan   January 17, 2008

“Two years ago other basketball teams did not take us seriously, but now we are one of the top teams. Other teams play us hard,” according to Coach Tyrone Wright . Currently the Spartans, with a record of 17 – 4, are in a three way tie for first place in the conference with Community College of Philadelphia and Manor College .

On Saturday, January 12, the Spartans took on CC of Philadelphia in a thriller to the end. A field goal with two seconds left by Junior Madden, a freshman from Glenside, gave Northampton its 16th win in a row, with a score of 85 – 83.

However, NCC then lost to Manor College on January 14, which was their first loss since November 14th. NCC split with Manor College and CC of Philadelphia. The three way tie will be broken after the latter two teams meet again.

The Spartans are gearing up for a strong finish to the regular season and are hoping to be the top seed going into the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Final Four Tournament with the ultimate goal of making it to the state championships on February 17.
