The Express-Times is awarding one $1,000 scholarship to a minority student of any age who lives in Northampton County , PA , or Warren County, NJ, and demonstrates financial need and has an understanding of improving life through learning. Applicants must be attending an undergraduate course of study in Fall 2008 at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school, and enrolled full-time or part-time. This includes students currently enrolled in an undergraduate course of study and who have one or more years of school remaining.

To be eligible, applicants must complete the application form in its entirety and return it to The Express-Times by the entry postmark deadline, Friday, May 23, 2008. All applications will be first screened on the basis of leadership responsibilities in community activities and school activities and on grade point average. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of the number, length of commitment, and quality of leadership responsibilities in community and school activities, awards and honors, a clear statement of education and career goals, academic record, a clear statement of education and career goals, academic record, and financial need.
