Monroe Campus Summer Update
August 21, 2008

Things were far from dull at the Monroe Campus this summer. Between Student Orientation and bookstore renovations, students, faculty and staff were busy gearing up for the year ahead.

Tiffany D’Angelo, president, Stephanie Rivera, vice president, Chileda Bordes, secretary, and Gregory Simmonds, treasurer, of the Monroe Student Governance, met to discuss plans for the fall. Their expected agenda will include participating in the Student Leadership Development Series, community service programs to benefit VNA Hospice, the SPCA of Monroe County, and Morey Elementary school, hosting bake sales to greet voters on Election Day at the Monroe Campus (a polling spot for Pocono Township) and environmental awareness education. The officers also hope to sponsor the Welcome Back Party, FallFest, and a blood drive.

Orientation programs for new students were held at the Monroe Campus in June and July. Student volunteers were on hand to answer questions and to whip up delicious smoothies to serve to the incoming scholars.

Theatre students (pictured left) performed in a play that was a realistic look at life for students going off to college for the first time.

The Monroe Campus bookstore was reconfigured to better serve students. Stop by and find newly expanded offerings, including NCC insignia items and clothing. Stamps can now be purchased at the bookstore and, as always, you can stop by to grab a quick snack.
