A Winter Celebration
December 19, 2007

The Monroe Campus got into the holiday spirit in an international way on December 11. The Community Room was transformed into party central with twinkling lights and colorful displays about winter holidays celebrated around the world including Eid-al-adha, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Three King’s Day, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Winter Solstice, and Christmas.

Students received a passport and a gift bag when they arrived. They toured the world by stopping at tables that represented different countries and got a stamp on their passport along with a treat for their gift bag. Visitors were also treated to a lesson in a traditional stick dance that is native to India.

Everyone enjoyed delicious holiday foods such as dumplings, tortellini, Indian rice and peas, rosca de reyes cake, Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, egg nog, and fresh chai but the highlight of this event was a visit from a very special guest. Can you guess who it was? Visit the Photo Gallery to find out and see photos of students, faculty, and staff enjoying the party.
