Meet the New Athletic Director
February 29, 2008

Troy Tucker (pictured at left) will succeed Bill Bearse as director of athletics at Northampton Community College (NCC), bringing with him fifteen years of experience in athletic administration at NCAA Division I and Division III colleges and at two community colleges. Along the way Troy served as an associate dean of academic affairs, taught physical education classes on the college-level, and garnered “Coach of the Year” honors as a head coach in both men’s basketball and women’s softball. “He has a wealth of knowledge and some exciting ideas for building on the strong athletic program NCC is known for,” says Mardi McGuire Closson, vice president for student affairs at Northampton .

Troy earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the State University of New York at Genesco and a master’s in education with a concentration in sport management at
Springfield College in Massachusetts. He will be relocating to the Lehigh Valley from Maryland. “I am thrilled to be part of the Northampton Community College family,” he says. “I look forward to interacting with students and being involved with the campus as a whole.”

Troy will be working closely with Adrian Yaguez, the former director of the Spartan Center who was recently named assistant director of athletics, and Sherri Bollinger, the director of NCC’s fitness center. “They are a strong team,” says Closson.
