College Awarded $750,000 To Aid Manufacturers
July 17, 2008

Northampton Community College ’s Electrotechnology Applications Center has been awarded a $750,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to show Pennsylvania manufacturers how they can reduce volatile organic compound emissions through state-of-the-art technologies for heating, drying, coating and curing their products. The funding will enable scientists from the Center to work with businesses on techniques for improving productivity, controlling energy usage, and curbing air pollution.

In announcing the award, State Senator Lisa Boscola said, “This is another example of the stellar work being done by Northampton Community College and demonstrates the respect NCC has in state government.”

Over the past twelve years, engineers and chemists at the Electrotechnology Applications Center have provided assistance to more than 700 companies and won numerous honors including the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. Companies interested in accessing services may call 610-861-5081.
