On Monday, June 9, at a reception beginning at 11 a.m., twenty-five students from
Easton High School ’s environmental science class will present new exhibits to the Nurture Nature Center in Easton. However, due to construction, the reception will be held in The Gold Room at the Eastonian in Easton. The exhibits were created in collaboration with students from Northampton Community College's Student Leadership Program to educate the public about flood prevention, flood safety, disaster preparedness, and emergency response. Funding for the service-learning project was provided by the State Farm Youth Advisory Board.
The exhibits include the video "Floodman and the Floodkateers," (shown in the photo), a flood safety board
game, models of eco-friendly land-use, a panel exhibit on storm water management techniques for homeowners, a multi-media display on Easton floods--then and now, a Web site on the economic aspects of flooding, and more.

The exhibits will be on display in The Gold Room at The Eastonian, 140 Northampton Street in Easton. Exhibits, programs, and other educational activities will be devoted to educating the public about the flooding problem that has become so urgent in the region and elsewhere in the nation.
In August the exhibits will go on the road to the Penn State Agricultural Expo.
