Susan Kubik (pictured left), vice president for institutional advancement at Northampton Community College, continues to receive national accolades for her leadership in educational fundraising.
She will be honored on Wednesday, April 16, by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with the Commonfund Award, presented to individuals who have excelled in the development of their own organizations and provided significant service to the community of institutionally related foundations.
The award will be presented at the Conference for Institutionally Related Foundations in St. Petersburg, Florida. There will be only two recipients: Kubik and Ed Davis, president of Texas A&M Foundation.
Northampton was one of the first community colleges in the country to recognize the vital role an independent foundation could play in providing high quality education for students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to pursue higher education. The Foundation has funded many building projects at Northampton, underwritten a faculty development program, and raised monies that enable NCC to offer more scholarship aid than any other community college in Pennsylvania.
Kubik is being recognized by CASE, not only for her success in leading those initiatives, but also for her willingness to share her expertise with others. She is a strong believer in “giving back to the profession” and in much demand as a speaker and advisor.
The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education is the largest international association of education institutions in the world. Its membership includes alumni, communications and fundraising professionals at some 3200 schools, colleges, universities and institutionally related foundations in 46 countries.
Past recipients of the CASE Commonfund Institutionally Related Foundation Awards include the president and chief executive officer of the Minnesota Medical Foundation, the president and chief executive officer of the University of Maryland Foundation, Inc., and the president of the Indiana University Foundation.
The awards are underwritten by Commonfund, a nonprofit corporation with more than 1,600 members and $37 billion in assets under management. Commonfund provides fund management services and investment advice to educational institutions, hospitals, foundations, and other nonprofits.
