Two NCC graduates and one adjunct faculty member were among the nurses honored at the Friends of Nursing Award Celebration held at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in conjunction with National Nurses Week. Charlotte Buckenmyer '77 who works in emergency services at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg received the Terry Capuano , R.N. Clinical Leadership Award. Barbara Labriola '06 was the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Urologic Patient Care. Martina Oswald-Remaly of the Open-Heart Unit was presented with the Fleming Nursing Caring Award. Martina provides clinical instruction for students in Nursing 101. Mary Jean Osborne , director of nursing programs at NCC, notes: "How appropriate it is that Marina teaches in the intro course where 'learning how to care' is a key milestone."

More than 3000 nurses have been educated at NCC. Nationally, 59% of new nurses are graduates of community colleges.
