Bigger, Better Lehigh Valley Food & Wine Festival

The 3rd Annual Lehigh Valley Food & Wine Festival was even better this year. For the first time, the event was held over two days, August 18-19, at the new Sands Event Center in Bethlehem. The beautifully appointed venue featured plenty of room for record crowds -- about 2,200 over the two days -- to spread out as they sampled gourmet food from more than 20 of the Lehigh Valley's finest restaurants and sipped wines from vineyards around the world. 

Also a first this year were separate tasting rooms for champagne and American bourbons and whiskeys, as well as a cooking demonstration by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse on Saturday.

(l-r) Emily Heydt, Emeril, Olivia Razzano and Tyler Baxter.Particularly exciting for the NCC community was Emeril's announcement of the winners of a culinary competition held at the College on July 2 and 3, 2012. NCC culinary arts graduates Tyler Baxter, Emily Heydt and Olivia Razzano will leave in October for a one-week, all-expenses-paid trip to New Orleans to work alongside Emeril in one of his restaurants.


Proceeds from this year's event benefit the NEH Challenge Grant.


Thea Phalon, director of special events and donor relations at NCC, said, "It's great to have so much support -- from the community, the donors, and the students, faculty and staff -- to help this event grow every year. We're planning for an even bigger and better festival next year!"
