'Tis the season of exams, papers, and projects, but Northampton Community College students, faculty, and staff still managed to find time to make the holiday season cheerful and to give to others!
Members of SkillsUSA organized "A Time for Giving," a project where they invited the NCC community to write letters to the troops in order to thank them for their service.
The proceeds from the Main Campus Band of Brothers' poinsettia flower sale and other fundraisers were used to purchase Christmas gifts for five children, ages 1 through 11, from three local families. This is the third year in a row that members of Band of Brothers have provided holiday gifts for children in order to put smiles on some little faces during this season!
Senators from the Main Campus Student Senate and members of the Christian Fellowship Club spent a day unloading, sorting, folding, and packing supplies for people in the Philippines who were impacted by the deadly typhoon.
Students from the Paralegal and Legal Secretaries (PALS) Club helped place candles at senior citizen facilities for Luminaria Night on December 14.
At the Monroe Campus, the Band of Brothers organized and hosted a Breakfast with Santa for the community to benefit the Toys for Tots Program. They collected two boxes of toys and raised $170 in cash donations, all while providing a fun time for local children. Students for Political Equity have been holding a drive for canned goods, warm coats, sweaters, and blankets for VALOR's homeless veterans program. Bins are located in the lobby near Student Services.
The Athletics Department and the Business Club reached out to students, faculty, and staff to collect 401 shoeboxes filled with holiday gifts for local children for the Holiday Hope Chest drive.
Visit the holiday wonderland on the second floor of Penn Hall. The display cases get a festive makeover each year, thanks to Darryl and Dan Peters, lab technicians. If you can't get there in person, take a look at this video!

A multicultural holiday party was held on December 5 at the Monroe Campus, showcasing winter holidays celebrated around the world.
On the same day, the newly-formed Urban Arts Association held a Christmas Kick-Off Party to celebrate the new club.
The burden of being able to afford holiday gifts was eased for NCC students, thanks to donations of gift items from faculty and staff. At the Holiday Bazaar from December 17-20, students shop for free!
The entire community was invited to get into the holiday spirit at the annual Community Chorus holiday concert on December 6.
The season just isn't the same without a visit with old friends. NCC's Alumni Association held its annual holiday party for alumni and their families on December 7.
Students from the Northampton Dance Ensemble and the Acta Non Verba dance club performed pieces choreographed by NCC dance faculty at a Winter Danceworks concert on December 12 and 13.
