Northampton Community College Monroe leadership students spent the past few months working on a service learning project to benefit wounded and homeless veterans.
The students raised nearly $1,000 which they used to purchase items to create care packages for wounded veterans. On January 21, the Martin Luther King Day of Service, the students spent hours assembling the items into almost 100 care packages, each complete with a personally hand-written note thanking the veterans for their service.
In early February, students delivered the care packages to the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. In addition, the students held a clothing drive to benefit the Veterans Assisted Living Outreach Clinic (VALOR).
Students who donated their time and energy to this project are: Shatieka Boone, Janiqua Farrell, Carla Garis, Adam Mikuchonis, Kathleen Miller, Taylor Natiello, and Dorothy Titus.
