NCC Chosen to Receive Community Leadership Award

October 16, 2012

Northampton CommunityCollege is one of seven organizations to be honored at the YWCA of Bethlehem's "Breaking the Glass Ceiling Gala" on October 27. TerryGross, host of the popular "Fresh Air" program on National Public Radio, will be the keynote speaker at the event which is being held to celebrate the Y's 85th anniversary.

Throughout its history, the Bethlehem Y has been a champion for the elimination of racism, the empowerment of women, and freedom and dignity for all. Those are ideals that are central to the College's mission, too, so to be chosen to receive the Y's "Community Leadership Award is deeply meaningful," says Northampton's president, Dr. Mark Erickson.

Other organizations to be recognized at the Gala are PPL Corporation (Company of the Year), Lehigh Valley Health Network (TrailblazerAward), Capital BlueCross (Women's Leadership Award), Women in Art in Pennsylvania (Empowerment Advocate Award), Eye for Detail Construction and Remodeling (Women-Owned Business Award), and Franklin Hill Vineyards (Non-Traditional Women's Business Award).
