Come cheer the Northampton Community College women's volleyball team on to victory at noon on Saturday, November 2, when they take on Sandhills Community College from North Carolina for the National Junior College Athletic Association District H Division III Championship and a ticket to the national finals in Rochester, Minnesota. The best-of-five match will be played in the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center on NCC's Main Campus at 3835 Green Pond Road in Bethlehem. The match will be broadcast live online at NJCAA TV.
The Spartans clinched their second straight regional championship on Saturday, October 26, with a 3-0 victory over Montgomery County Community College. Ashley McCauley was named the tournament's most valuable player. Barbara Dimon, Emily Koehler and Anna Domvan were all named to the All-Tournament Team. Coach Adrian Yaguez was named Region XIX Coach of the Year.
The Spartans are ranked 7th in the nation with a 32-0 record.
Last year they suffered a heartbreaking fifth set loss in the division final. This year they played a tournament in Syracuse, New York, to prepare for tougher competition.
In an article in The Express-Times, Coach Yaguez says, "They deserve to go to Minnesota. Now they just have to go out and earn it."
Let's make sure they feel the love on Saturday. To support the team, the college is holding an Orange-Out at the game. Dress in orange hats, shirts, pants, wigs, scarves, sunglasses, shoes, etc., and help turn the bleachers into a sea of orange! The two most spirited and most orange NCC students will win flex money prizes. Plus, the first 250 students to check in at the Student Life table will get a free orange giveaway!
Share your spirit on Twitter using #NCCORANGEOUT. Let's get our team pumped and ready to bring home another win!
