Frances R. Hesselbein Scholarship

The Women's Leadership Initiative of United Way is awarding The Frances R. Hesselbein Scholarship for the 2014-2015 school year.

Bethlehem Garden Club Scholarship
Deadline: April 20, 2014
The scholarship is offered to graduating seniors from Liberty, Freedom and Vo-Tech High Schools and Northampton Community College students who are continuing their education in one of the following areas: conservation, horticulture, landscaping, floriculture, environmental studies, forestry, botany or a related field.
The amount of the scholarship is decided by the Board of Directors of the Bethlehem Garden Club. In past years the amount has been $1000. Applications and letters of recommendation must be received by April 20, 2014. An application can be downloaded here.
Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and the winner will be announced at the May Board of Directors meeting. The scholarship will be presented to the winner at the May General Membership Meeting.
All applicants will be judged equally with no preference given to graduating high school students. Note: this is a change in the guidelines from previous years.

Easton Area Community Center Scholarship
Deadline: April 30
This scholarship fund was established in 2013 by Easton Area Community Center in memory of Marlene "Linny" Fowler to provide opportunities for deserving students to continue their education. Ms. Fowler was a member of the Board of Advisors at Easton Area Community Center.
The EACC Scholarship supports a current or former member to pursue her or his post-secondary education goals at an accredited technical or vocational school, community or junior college, or four-year college or university. The scholarship recipient should demonstrate how participation as an EACC member helped in developing the capacity to overcome challenges and adversity, the ability to envision and meet career and life goals, and the willingness to serve as a role model and give back to the community.
This Scholarship will be a onetime award in the amount of $500.00.
Awards are paid in one installment and will be mailed to the recipient's home address approximately two weeks before the start of the upcoming semester.
All applications must be submitted between January1and April 30 prior to date of enrollment. To be considered for the Easton Area Community Center Scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
•Be an Easton Area Community Center alumnus.
• Be a legal resident or citizen of the USA.
• Family members of EACC Officers, Directors, and members of the scholarship selection committee are disqualified from receiving scholarships.
• Have applied and been accepted to a post-secondary school (accredited technical school, vocational school, junior college, community college or four year college).
• Submit with this application a copy of her/his acceptance letter to the post-secondary institution.
•Submit two letters of reference, from people who know you (excluding immediate family members).
•Be willing to meet with the selection committee for an interview.
• Demonstrate a genuine need for these funds.
The scholarship committee determines eligibility of scholarships. All scholarships will be awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis.
The process includes:
•Review of all applications.
•Narrow down applicant pool to three finalists.
• Conduct interviews of applicants to evaluate their character and alignment to scholarship objectives.
•Final selection of applicant
LEHIGH VALLEY MILITARY AFFAIRS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP
Deadline: May 15, 2014
LVMAC is offering a scholarship to veterans of working age seeking first-time civilian employment or veterans of working age seeking reemployment due to job loss.
To be eligible, a Veteran must have entered on active duty (excluding active duty for training) since 16 October 1981, served in one of the armed forces of the United States (to include the Coast Guard during a period of war), served the full period of active duty obligation unless separated for medical injury connected to military service, and was honorably separated or discharged (meaning an honorable or general discharge under honorable conditions was received).
To apply for this scholarship, mail a completed application with proof of military service (DD Form 214), the letter of acceptance on official stationery from the college or education institution, the official transcript and the letter of recommendation to:

GreenPal Business Scholarship

The purpose of the GreenPal Small Business Scholarship is to assist a motivated, driven student and future business leader. GreenPal believes that the generation of today's student is the future employers of tomorrow. The future of our country will be forged by the entrepreneurial spirit of today's generation.
If you currently run a small business while attending college or have a small business idea to start while you plan to attend college, see below for the instructions and criteria for applying for the GreenPal scholarship.
1. DEADLINE for scholarship applications is May 30th, 2014.
2. Criteria for applying:
•Applicant must be a 2014 high school graduate or currently enrolled in the college of Business with a 3.0 or higher GPA;
•Applicant must demonstrate high ambition and desire to be an entrepreneur or business owner;
• Applicant must have a declared major in the College of Business;
•Funds must be used for full-time enrollment at accredited two or four-year colleges, universities, vocational or technical schools in the United States.
3. To review the application process and for a list of support documents needed (i.e. evidence of GPA) or to submit the application, go to yourgreenpal.com/scholarship. Submissions are to be submitted through the online application process only. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
4. The scholarship winner will be announced on June 15th, 2014.
5. This is an evergreen scholarship and will be renewed and funded each year by GreenPal.
Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student's institution upon evidence of registration in classes. This includes student identification number and correct address of school's Bursar's Office.
The Scholarship is $2,000 paid equally over (4) semesters. This scholarship will be renewed each year with a new winner. Each winner will receive (4) awards of $500 for each semester completed.
