WELCOME FAMILY MEMBERS!
Making career decisions is one of the most challenging tasks one will face in college and throughout life. The more time and effort one puts into his/her career development the more likely one is to reach a satisfying decision. Career development is a process that typically involves the following stages:
• Learning about yourself • Explore your options • Narrow your choices • Check it out
Making choices about your future is a continual process that one will revisit many times during one's life. Regardless of where you are in your college career or in life, you may enter the process at whatever point is most relevant to you. While career decisions can only be made by the individual, there are many tools and services your student can use to assist him/her in the process.
We welcome and encourage students to utilize the Office of Career Services early in their college experience. We can help students explore career options and make career decisions. We also offer assistance with the job search process and educate students on how to develop a successful job search strategy including creating a well-written résumé and cover letters, researching employers, preparing for job interviews, and navigating the job search. Students can research careers and four year colleges in our extensive career library, as well as, using online resources including eChoices, the Vault online career library, Hoover's online, and more.
Career Services maintains an online database of job and internship opportunities posted by local and regional employers. Students and alumni of NCC can search this database as well as upload their resume to be searched by employers.
The Career Services Office holds three job fairs each year, one at the Bethlehem campus in the fall, one at the Monroe campus in the spring, and an annual Health Careers Job Fair in Bethlehem. NCC participates in a consortium of 15 area colleges and universities which sponsors the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Career Expo each spring - a career fair that has attracted more than 100 employers and hundreds of students.
In addition, we offer a variety of workshops and other events to prepare students for the world of work such as a Business Dining Etiquette Luncheon, major specific programs such as Lunch with the Law, A Liberal Arts Education -- Can It Pay the Bills, Careers in Criminal Justice, and Doing Good and Getting Paid for It....Careers in the Non-Profits, in addition to employer information sessions.
