James Ryan of Bushkill

James RyanJames Ryan is the kind of guy you would most likely find swapping out an engine or pulling off a bumper. In fact, this 22 year old spends most of his free time working on cars with his friends. "I'm good with my hands," says James, who excelled in Wood Tech programs in high school, "and I love working with other people. Plus, I have a very sociable personality."

"I get asked a lot why I chose to study Criminal Justice over a career with cars, but I didn't want to spoil the hobby," says James. "Also, having a degree is really important to me."

Inspired by family and friends in the field, James enrolled in the Criminal Justice program at NCC. "I've always looked up to police officers. I feel it's such an honorable career, and I'd really like to be a good influence on children in my community in the future," he says. "In fact, I'd like to start working as a police officer with my NCC associates degree, and then continue on to get my bachelor's in law enforcement after that. I know that a career in criminal justice will allow me to work every day to help people. That's really important to me."
