Northampton Community College offers DEP approved training courses at our Main Campus in Bethlehem and at our satellite campuses in Monroe County Campus.  The following courses have been approved by the DEP for water and wastewater training and continuing education units:

Main Campus Courses- Spring 2009
Basic Electricity

Provides fundamentals of electricity for anyone working with industrial equipment or electrical construction. Covers safety, basic AC and DC circuit operation and analysis, meter usage, schematics, and circuit component operation. Practical applications provided throughout. Scientific calculator recommended. Water Treatment I
Introductory preparation of operators of water treatment plants for the state certification exam. Includes water sources, reservoir management, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, corrosion control, plant operation and safety. Course focuses on math review. Wastewater Operations II
Provides operation and maintenance personnel with an understanding of the preliminary, chemical, and biological components for the plan with emphasis on math and chemistry requirements of the state certification exam. Monroe Campus- Spring 2009
Basic Math for Operators
Provides an introduction to the basic mathematical principals needed in both water and wastewater operations.  Covers basic nomenclature and calculating percentages and ratios and proportions, performing dimensional analysis, understanding and calculating areas, volumes, and by calculating pressure, force, and head. The course is ideal for entry level workers or those looking for an examination review course. DEP approved course. Textbook required from College Bookstore. 20 Hrs. CEUs: 2.0
