 Meet Trixie

 Your name:   Patricia Sterner

 Job title/department:   Administrative Assistance/Public Safety & Security

What is your dog’s name?   Trixi

How old is your dog?   11

Pure breed or mixed mutt?   Mix

What is your dog’s gender?   Female

Describe your dog in three words:   Spunky, loving, gentle

What is the thing your dog cannot live without?    Her squeaky toys. She has small stuffed toys that squeak and she loves to lay on the landing of the stairs and just squeak them all day long.

Can your dog do tricks? If so, what?   Trixi used to be able to dance. When you asked her to dance she would stand up on her back legs and spin/jump in circles for you. Unfortunately in her old age she is no longer able to dance. Even though she can't dance like she use to she still loves running in circles to dance now.

What is the best trick your dog has taught you?   Trixi has taught me the true meaning of love. When I was in College my grandfather got very sick and I needed to help take care of him. Trixi was his dog but he never really bonded with her. He saw how much we loved each other so he decided to give me Trixi. Two years later my grandfather passed away and I always remember how he wanted the best for Trixi and he gave her a life that she deserved.

Do you have a nickname for your dog?  Trix

Does your dog enjoy bath time?  NO!!!!, She hates bath time. After she is done with a bath she will run around the house and roll on everything!

You know your dog is in a good mood when he/she does this:    She will come over with her squeaky toy and want you to throw is around with her.

Your dog’s favorite spot to hangout is:   Under the baby's crib

Favorite toy:   Her pink stuffed squeaky toy (I may have replaced it a few times)

One habit you would love to change:   Her barking, although in her old age she has stopped barking as much because she can't hear you come in the house as well.

Does your dog prefer to play with people, or other dogs?    People, we got a puppy for Christmas and Trixi just hangs out on the back of the couch where the puppy can't get her.

Does your dog like children?   She loves Children! I have 4 children and they all love Trixi and she is so good with them. The other night my 18 month old fed Trixi dinner and then sat next to her and petted her head the entire time she was eating.

If you could ask your dog one question and they’d be able to answer it, what would it be?    Did you enjoy your life? I know that Trixi is loved by so many and sometimes loved a little more than she would like by the children, but I am always wondering if she has enjoyed her life. She and I have been through so much and I always wanted to know if there was something she really wanted that I was never able to give her.

Can your dog read your emotions?    Absolutely! She can always tell when we are happy, sad or even sick

Funniest moment you’ve had with your dog:    In college, Trixi went to Greek Week with me and a few of my sorority sisters. She had so much fun playing soccer with all of us and she even scored a goal! She had so much energy as a puppy and was so full of life.

What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your dog?   Trixi has been there for me through so much! She was with me in college and kept me company during my long nights studying, she was there when I met and married my husband, she was with me when I lost my 3 of the 5 grandparents in 3 years, she was there when I bought my first house and had my children. She has always accepted every new curve that life threw at us and when I brought all of our children home she immediately fell in love with them and protected them. When each of my children was born, she would lay next to the bassinet when they slept and wouldn't move until the woke up.
