Attention all veterans!
A grant from the United States Department of Transportation enables Northampton Community College (NCC) to offer free commercial truck driver training to current and former members of the military and their spouses who reside in Northampton, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Carbon, or Lackawanna counties. Members of the National Guard and the Reserves and their spouses are included.
The grant will cover full tuition - $4200. The only cost to students is the permit cost which averages $83.50 and the Hazardous Material Threat Assessment ($60.00). Day and evening classes run throughout the year at NCC's Monroe Campus. Day classes meet Monday through Friday from 8-4:30 for six weeks. Evening classes meet Monday through Friday from 5-10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-4:30 for eight weeks.

More than 1,400 people have completed NCC's truck driver training program, which has a job placement rate of 90 percent.
