Students pledge to graduate and get an end of week celebration
Completion Week 2017 was a big hit this year with students pledging to finish their journey here at NCC and faculty and staff pledging to help students succeed. The week was sponsored by Phi Theta KAppa (PTK), NCC's National Honor Society, in conjunction with Community College Corps (C4).
Monday began with a banner signing, where the NCC students pledged online to complete their degree and signed a banner. They received cake for making the pledge! What could be better?
On Tuesday, students had the opportunity to attend a Career Fair put together by Career Services, and PTK shared how to make a good impression when searching for a job. Representatives from companies such as Country Meadows, Homewood Suites, Patient First, St. Luke's and PA State Police were present.
Wednesday really got cooking in the food court as samples of Apple Crisp and Smoothie were passed around as a part of the Cooking On A Budget theme for the day. At night, a cooking demonstration was held in the Residence Halls where PTK handed out cookbooks containing healthy meals students could make in the dorms.
On Thursday, Swimming for Success was held in the library where students asked questions about financial aid and scholarships.
On the final day, Friday, to celebrate the end of completion week, a Halloween Dance was held. The scarecrow pictured above came alive! People dressed in their favorite Halloween costume, ate ghoulish treats and enjoyed an awesome DJ.
All divisions at the college have banners that show their support for Completion Week, and the NCC community is proud of the students who made the pledge!
