Hispanic culture celebrated
With the threat of rain, the Hispanic Flag-Raising Ceremony moved inside this year for their festivities. And, the location change certainly did not affect the celebration. The ceremony began with a discussion on the history of the Hispanic flag, and a Proclamation was read in both English and Spanish while students held the flag high.
A vibrant band played cultural music as students enjoyed food, such as empanadas, papas rellenas and more. And, once students digested, there was room on the dance floor to salsa, bachata and merengue. Some of the faculty and staff joined in for the fun on the dance floor as well. Celebrating diversity and what makes cultures unique is a big part of life at NCC. These students certainly enjoyed sharing their culture on this afternoon to commemorate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.
