Kylie says global studies incorporates all of her interests
Kylie Buscemi originally came to NCC for Communications, but after taking an International Relations course, she was hooked on Global Studies. "It incorporates everything I'm interested in: travel, language, global community, business, and communications."
She loves the knowledgeable, supportive faculty, as well as her fellow students in the program. "They are incredible people who, like me, are studying to better understand the world." Kylie relishes learning about the "political, geographical and international aspects of the world, and how they interrelate."
This spring and summer, Kylie will be applying her studies in the field, with an NCC-sponsored study-abroad trip to France, and on her own in Italy.
When she finishes at NCC, Kylie hopes to transfer to a four-year college and graduate with a bachelor's in Global Studies. "I want a career that allows me to travel and make world-wide connections, whether through business, language translation, or ministry opportunities."
Kylie recommends the Global Studies major to anyone who "has a passion for learning about other cultures, and an open mind about world perspectives. This program will make you a better, more well-rounded and accepting person," she says. "Becoming a Global Studies student was one of the best decisions I've made, both for my future and for me as a human. It's always good to travel and experience a world outside of one's comfort zone."
