Rachel Rivera: Hospitality Student

Her experience networking and making connections, prepares Rachel for the world of Hospitality

Rachel Rivera came to NCC hoping for a career that would give her something new and exciting to look forward to. What better career than Hospitality? "You get to experience very diverse opportunities ... to interact with new and different people and situations every day," she says.

The best thing about NCC's program, in Rachel's view, is that there's always a lot going on, both at school and outside the classroom with various industry events. She also loves that the program is small enough that "the faculty really gets involved with the students - you get to know teachers and other students on a personal basis. The faculty is always there to assist you."

Rachel is currently an intern at Historic Hotel Bethlehem, and will join them as a maître d' when her internship is finished. She's excited to work in the wedding event management side of the business, where her passion lies. "This will give me an amazing opportunity to showcase everything I've learned in NCC's Hospitality program." One day, Rachel hopes to combine wedding event planning with her other passion, photography.

Her advice to students considering the program is this: "Be open to engaging in all the opportunities available to you, and you'll have so many great experiences in Hospitality. You'll connect with industry professionals and make excellent contacts. You'll get so much support at NCC, you'll be ready to begin your career as soon as you graduate!"
